orange mango freeze in glasses and pitcher with tangerines

Orange mango freeze is the most delicious blend of tropical and citrus fruits made into a frozen dessert. I love to make this frozen fruit smoothie for breakfast or even an afternoon snack. Thick enough to eat with a spoon, it's an easy summer dessert, but it's also great all year long.

    Hometown favorite treat!

Our orange mango freeze is inspired by my hometown favorite treat-- an orange freeze from Merlino's Orange Freeze, now The Hagen's Original Orange Freeze in Sacramento, California.

    The taste of fresh oranges

This dreamy freeze tasted just like fresh oranges. It was cold and icy, but it was smooth. We could always see orange crates stacked in the back of the restaurant and piles of orange peels. Ahhh! We knew there were real oranges in the citrusy freeze! Every time we go "home" we head over for an orange freeze. There's nothing I love more!

    Orange, mango, passion fruit, peach

Although the original orange freeze was my inspiration for this orange-mango freeze, I’ve added a few simple ingredients that speak to me. Better than an Orange Julius, or smoothie with orange juice, orange mango freeze is a citrusy blend of deliciousness.

We simply add orange juice, frozen mango chunks, peach citrus Fresca, passion fruit puree and a fresh mandarin orange or tangerine, with part of the peel, into the blender and blend. You’ll need to stop a few times and scrape down the sides as this is a thick frozen treat.

    Mandarin orange magic

You may pause at the addition of the whole mandarin with some skin, but the fresh tangerine or mandarin with it’s bit of zesty peel adds magic to the freeze. The soda fizz is really subtle in this recipe, but it too adds some magic!

Fans of mango-a-go-go from Jamba Juice, iced guava passion fruit drink at Starbuck's, or mango magic at Tropical Smoothie, will be good candidates to love our mango orange freeze. It's like a slushy, like a smoothie, like an icee, like a sorbet, but it's better!

If you love frozen slushes and all things citrus, you’ll love this orange mango freeze!

    Enjoy!

This looks and sounds amazing. What can you use in place of passion fruit purée?

Hi Jessica! Passion fruit adds such amazing flavor to this recipe. If you cannot find passion fruit puree or fresh passion fruit, you could add more mango or any other tropical fruit you like. Let us know if you try it!
